NEW!!! COMMUMITY SERVICE LEADERS MAY JOIN THE LIT PROGRAM FOR SUMMER 2011 WITHOUT ENROLLING IN SUMMER DAY CAMP.
L.I.T. is a 10 week program that meets twice a week. Meeting days are Tuesday’s and Friday’s. Our program is interactive and will include activities ranging from public speaking, teambuilding activities, presentations from non-profit organizations, and leading fundraising projects and service learning projects.
For the very first time, the Kishwaukee Family YMCA is opening enrollment to the Leaders in Training (L.I.T.) Program to teens (12 and older) not enrolled in summer camp. L.I.T. is a program that has been offered through summer camp for the past several years. The primary goals of the Leaders in Training program are:
- to assist young people in developing life-long skills that empower them to be leaders in all aspects of their lives,
- to provide young people with opportunities to learn about local non-profit organizations benefitting our community,
- to strengthen young peoples’ senses of civic engagement and community through carrying out service projects.
Who should enroll in L.I.T.?
- First and foremost, young people who want the opportunities to have their lives positively impacted.
- Young people who want to be part of a team.
- Young people who want to learn leadership skills that will be beneficial for a lifetime.
Overall, we are looking for mature, creative, fun, enthusiastic and energetic youth. If you love working with others and are up for some adventure, then the Kishwaukee Family YMCA Leaders in Training program is the right place for you!
