Membership General Information
INCLEMENT WEATHER POLICY
In the event of inclement weather the YMCA will cancel all morning classes if both Sycamore and DeKalb schools are cancelled. Decisions for cancelling afternoon and evening classes will be determined at a later time that day. Please call the YMCA (815)756-9577 for more information. Refunds will not be given for classes cancelled due to inclement weather.
GUEST POLICY
Effective May 1, 2008 Any non-member paying the 1-day fee must be with a YMCA member. YMCA issued guest passes may be redeemed without being accompanied by a YMCA member. Based on facility usage YMCA staff reserve the right to limit or restrict use of guest passes on a given day.Non-Family groups of 5+ must go through the rental process. Guest Passes
may be purchased at our Member Services
Desk. Guest fees are $8.00
for youth, $10.00 for adult (18 and older) and
$18.00 for a family. The guest
fee may be applied to a membership
purchase in the same name and
day of purchase.
AWAY
Away is a program allowing anyone with an AWAY membership to
limited use of other YMCAs in the country.
Stop at the desk to check if
the YMCA you may visit participates
in this program. Some restrictions
may apply. AWAY members may
register for programs at the
member fee on nonmember registration days.
Nonmembers and AWAY members
must check in at front desk.
PHOTOGRAPHY RELEASE
The YMCA occasionally takes pictures of our members and participants
to use in various marketing
materials. If you do not
wish yourself or family members to be photographed, please step
out of the photo
or notify photographer before
the photo is taken.
RACQUETBALL/WALLYBALL
Racquetball and wallyball courts
are free to members. Courts
may be reserved 1 day in
advance. An adult must
accompany children under 13.
Eye protection is recommended.
Equipment may be checked out
at the front desk for .
YOUTH POLICY
Children under the age of 8 are to be accompanied by a person
16 or older, participating
in a program or in KidZone. Children under age 12, who are not
accompanied by a parent or in a program, are not to be in the YMCA
after 8:30 p.m. Monday - Thursday. Children are not allowed to
attend adult fitness programs. Adult Children between 18 - 23 years
of age may remain on a family membership with proof of current
full-time student status and IRS proof the student is claimed as
a dependent.
Y GROUP EXERCISE CLASS/SIGN-UP POLICY
1. For classes that have a limited amount of equipment, the instructor
will have a sign-in form with maximum number and when the class
is full, it will be closed for that day.
2. Honesty is our policy, out
of respect for fellow participants; you may only sign yourself
up for a class. Under no circumstances will you be allowed to sign-in
someone else.
3. If there is a class that
has low enrollment consistently for two weeks, we reserve the right
to cancel the class.
4. For the most updated schedule,
please check at the member service desk.
5. For classes that are progressive
(i.e. pilates), for your safety, we encourage you to start at the
beginning of each session to ensure proper form and technique.
Our classes run on a drop-in basis. We reserve the right to cancel
any class due to low enrollment
(4 participants or less) and change instructors as needed. Please
check at the member service desk for an updated schedule.
YOUTH ORIENTATION/WORKOUT POLICY
Only adult and teen members are to use the exercise equipment. 12-15 year olds may use Strength Training or Cardiovascular equipment after receiving a pass at the front desk. New orientation is required. For safety reasons, no one under the age of 16 may use the Free Weights. Nonmember teens may not use the facilities. Proper behavior is required.
OPEN SWIM POLICY
A person 16 years of age must be in the water, on the same side of the pool, with children under 8 years of age who are using the pool. Children over 8 who have taken a swim test will be put on a list and given a wrist band at the front desk. The wrist band will allow them to swim in the deep end without a person 16 or older. The swim test must be administered by a lifeguard or the Aquatic Director.
POOL CLOSING DURING LIGHTNING/STORM POLICY
For safety reasons, the YMCA pools will close during storms which include thunder and lightning. Pools will reopen 30 minutes after the last observed lightning or thunder.
MEDICAL COVERAGE
Please be advised: the YMCA
does not carry medical
coverage on members. You are
advised to have accident insurance
in the event of injury. Members
assume responsibility for transportation
costs.
The YMCA strongly recommends
an annual physical examination
for all members, especially
those over 35 years of age.
CARD PASSING
Only the person issued the
YMCA membership may use
the card. Violation of this
policy will result in cancellation
of the membership. Cards
are to be surrendered if
membership should lapse.

FORGOT CARD/LOST CARD
Members are required to present
their membership card.
If the
card is forgotten, a photo
ID is required. A replacement
fee of
$5.00 will be charged for
each lost membership card.
Identification will be required
for a new card.
PROGRAM REFUND/CREDIT
The YMCA will issue a refund for classes and programs cancelled
by the YMCA. In the event of
a medical condition or injury,
the YMCA will offer a prorated
refund for reamining classes.
A YMCA program credit or opportunity
to transfer an alternitive
class/program will be offered
for all other class change
requests YMCA pogram credits
are valid for one year. A service
charge may be applied.
PROGRAM FEE DESCRIPTIONS
Fees are listed as member fee/nomemberfee. Classes run during
the sessions that are listed
periodically throughout the
brochure or they are specifically
designated at the class description
Free classes do not require
registration.
MEMBERSHIP REFUNDS/SERVICE FEES
Membership fees are non-refundable and non transferable and subject
to change. The YMCA now uses
E Cashflow to manage return
EFT payments. A $25 service
fee will be charged by this
service for checks and EFT
withdrawals returned for insufficient
funds. Two consecutive ISF
will result in membership cancellation.
All membership payments are
subject to the current membership
rates. Members who allow their
memberships to laps for more
than 30 Days must pay the start
up fees.
CLASS CANCELLATION AND MAKE UP POLICY
At times, the YMCA may find
it necessary to cancel
classes.
Classes will only be
made up if it is possible.
LOCKER ROOM USAGE:
Upon reaching their 6th birthday,
children must use the locker
room of their own gender.
A Special Needs/Family locker
room is also available. We
request cell phones be turned
off and put away when using
our locker rooms.
For the safety and comfort
of all those sharing locker
room facilities, please
dry off in the drying room.
For your own safety and protection,
bring your own lock and
keep your locker locked at
all times. Locks are cut off
lockers daily. The YMCA is
not responsible for lost or
stolen items. Leave valuables
at home.
MEMBER CODE OF CONDUCT
Using the principles of Honesty,
Responsibility, Caring
and Respect as a guide, we
have implemented the following
Code of Conduct to ensure that
all who participate with the
Y enjoy a safe, welcoming and
comfortable environment.
We ask individuals
to act in a manner
that upholds these principles
at all times when they
are in our facility or participating
in our programs. We expect
those using the YMCA to behave
in a way that shows respect and caring
for others, which includes
not using any language or engaging
in any action that can hurt
or frighten another person or that falls
below a generally accepted
standard of conduct. Specifically,
actions not adhering to
these guidelines and are not permitted include:
- Wearing inappropriate attire.
Attire must be appropriate,
including swimsuits
only in the pool area, and
shoes, shorts and shirts
or leotard in other areas
of the facility. No clothing
that may rip or tear pads
on equipment. Clothing with
vulgar or profane writing
or language is not allowed.
- Using angry or vulgar language including swearing,
name-calling or shouting.
- Making physical contact
with a person
in any angry or threatening
way. Engaging
in sexual activity or
contact with another
person.
- Harassing or intimidating
by words,
gestures, body language
or any other menacing
behavior.
Stealing
or other
behavior,
which results in the destruction
of property.
Carrying or concealing any
weapons devices or objects
which maybe
used as
a weapon.
- Using or possessing
illegal
chemicals or alcohol on
YMCA property
or in YMCA vehicles.
- Smoking/Tobacco
Use.
All YMCA facilities
and grounds
offer a Smoke/Tobacco free
environment for those
who use
them.
- Any
other conduct
of
an inappropriate,
threatening or offensive
nature.
- Members
and
guests are encouraged
to be responsible for
their personal
comfort
and
safety, and to ask any
person whose behavior threatens
their
comfort
to refrain from doing
so.
In
emergency
situations, please
follow
directions
of
YMCA staff.
- Food/Drink
allowed in
the lobby
area only. Water is allowed
in a
plastic water bottle. Gum
is not
- The
YMCA does not
have a paging system.
- Members
are expected
to end activity by
closing time
and
exit
the building within
15 minutes after
closing time.
- Handicapped
controls are
for the benefit
of our friends
who
truly
need them.
Please do not allow
children
to
use door
controls.
- Please
refrain from
using picture
phones unless
taking pictures
of your own
family
